Palm Springs in January isn’t exactly hot weather, but for two Alaskans- it was just beautiful. We spent the night in Palm Springs at Arrive Hotel (I will post more on the hotel soon) and enjoyed a truly wonderful meal at Copley’s. We enjoyed biking, golfing and the architecture of Palm Springs then headed out for Brunch at Norma’s, located in the Parker Hotel.
I know Norma’s is a popular instagram joint , but I was a little skeptical on the food going in- the prices looked outrageous! But the perk is we could take in Jonathan Adlers designs and the gardens of this 5-Star Hotel.
I made a reservation, but it seemed a bit silly upon arrival, as there were only two tables occupied. (Tuesday at Noon) On our way through the hotel’s decorated lobby, we saw gaggles of small groups taking pictures on their cell phones with the instragramable décor.
A staff member in a bubble-gum pink blazer (very Palm Springs) greeted us, and showed us to the entrance of Norma’s.
As for the food- it was great (but still pricey!) The complimentary smoothies were a nice touch.
We both ordered Eggs Benedict, traditional for me, and Upstream for Navarone, served with smoked salmon.
My personal favorite were Norma’s Doughnuts- freshly fried, dusted in sugar and served with tart lemon, and fresh blueberry dipping sauces. Navarone commented they tasted like the elephant ears from the fair.
Fried dough, can’t beat it!
After our meal we peaked around the grounds, which was my favorite part of visiting.
Maybe it’s the Alaskan in me, but I was thrilled with the citrus plants and blossoming trees… in January!
